Energy and Excitement in the Land Down Under

The Tego team had a great visit with attendees at the first annual RFID in Energy, Mining and Construction Conference organized by the RFID Journal on August 12-13 in Perth, Australia.

Thanks to Martijn Truijens of Woodside Energy, we were invited to attend the conference and demonstrate how leading mining and construction companies are using RFID technologies to track tools and equipment, manage inventory and streamline business processes.

It was great to see many of the vendors Tego has worked with over the years — many of which are providing both active and passive solutions to oil and gas end users. Overall, it was a great show, and we look forward to next year.

We were pleased to participate in the RFID Standardization Workshop, and will continue to be an active member in this group. For us, the workshop was reminiscent of the early days of the ATA Spec 2000, chapter 9-5 standardization groups, where Tego was and continues to be an active leader in developing standards for aerospace.

A presentation by Tego’s CEO, Tim Butler, talked about Tego, its solutions, and lessons learned from aerospace that can be applied in the energy and mining sector. We received rave reviews for the TegoView demo, which demonstrated how easy it is to use Tego’s rugged high memory solutions for maintenance, repair and overhaul activities on assets. Folks were as excited to see the solution in action as we were to discuss the similarities between energy and aerospace MRO use cases.

Although Tego is a relatively new player in the energy sector, we are pioneers in the wireless and RFID industry, and we see that Tego’s ruggedized high-memory RFID solutions are well-suited to meet the needs of this market. The high-memory data capabilities of Tego’s RFID tags enables storage of an asset’s complete lifecycle information, even in remote locations without Internet access.

Tego is the only integrated, end-to-end RFID solution provider that designs and manufactures its own UHF, passive, RFID chips, tags and software, enabling products that are ideally suited for energy, mining and construction. Check out a Tego webinar session to see TegoView for yourself, and for more on the subject, download our Oil and Gas application brochure.
