Frequently Asked Questions

Foundational Questions

Who is Tego Inc., and what does the company provide?

Tego is an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) SaaS solution provider specializing in end-to-end digital transformation. We architect, deploy, and service solutions that leverage automation. Our initial expertise began in passive UHF RFID that became the technical foundation for a global aerospace standard.

How is Tego different from other solution providers?

Tego is a vertically integrated solution provider with over 50 patents supporting the company’s platform. Furthermore, the company has taken a systems-based approach to developing all aspects of its solution.

For instance, Tego’s solution supports all types of auto-identification inputs, uses the company’s hardware-agnostic middleware, TegoConnect, and a configurable platform, TegoHub. This platform, which can be deployed on-premise or in the cloud, allows Tego to take a holistic approach to solving customers’ challenges.

What is Tego’s role and legacy in aerospace’s ‘Flyable Parts’ Solution

Tego is the first company to innovate and manufacture a rugged, UHF, high-memory, RFID chip capable of storing “point-of-use” lifecycle data for airplane components that live thirty years in the field. The data encoded in TegoChip includes part number, serial number, manufacturer and date of manufacture, installation date and location, full maintenance history (repairs, inspections, overhauls), flight hours/cycles, expiration dates (for life-limited parts), certifications and regulatory compliance data, and hazardous materials information.

Tego secured the first Flyable Parts contract with Airbus, and its software quickly became the gold standard for ATA compliance. Today, Tego remains the world’s leading provider of Flyable Parts solutions.

Technical Questions

Describe Tego’s Unified View?

Tego provides a single, flexible platform that unifies data from multiple enterprise systems (e.g. ERP, MES, WMS, etc) and technologies. Together with real-time location tracking of operational floor, warehouse, and production activities, this creates an intelligent digital twin of operations, giving a comprehensive operational view which directly measures real-world activities and results across all levels of the organization.

What’s the value of TegoHub?

TegoHub eliminates operational blind spots and transforms fragmented knowledge into systematic, repeatable procedures. By leveraging your own real-time data, businesses can optimize performance, replicate successful outcomes, and move beyond reactive management.

Describe TegoHub’s Architecture

TegoHub solution can be deployed either on-premises or cloud-based (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud). Its middleware layer TegoConnect manages devices such as printers, fixed readers, RTLS readers and other edge mobile devices, and runs on Android, iOS and Windows operating systems.

What type of auto-identification does Tego’s smart connected solution rely on?

Tego’s platform ingests all forms of auto-identification inputs, including barcodes, QR codes, RFID (active or passive), Ultra-Wide Band, and GPS.

How does TegoHub ensure data security?

TegoHub uses HTTPS for access and data transfer. The solution employs single sign on authentication and multiple factor authentication protocols for users. All data is encrypted both at rest and in transit. APIs require tokens. Devices have encrypted data.

How does TegoMobile work with edge devices?

TegoConnect for mobile devices can be downloaded from the Microsoft store, Apple Store and Google Play. Each device and all users must be registered to an account for any operational data, workflows, or information transfer to occur. All data and information processed by devices in offline mode, is uploaded when devices come online again. In this way TegoHub is never without the latest production information occurring out in the field.

How does TegoChip survive repeated gamma, e-beam sterilization and x-Ray processes?

Unlike traditional RFID chips, TegoChip does not use EEPROM memory. Instead, it uses an inherently robust patent protected memory technology that survives rugged and harsh environmental exposure. Tested by medical device manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies and sterilization providers themselves, TegoChip is proven to survive extreme levels of either gamma, e-beam or x-ray sterilization.

Software and Business Intelligence

Can TegoHub integrate with ERP, MES, WMS and other enterprise systems?

Through a standard API, TegoHub integrates with enterprise systems, data lakes, even homegrown systems and databases.

How does TegoHub deliver Business Intelligence?

TegoHub is a comprehensive digital twin of operational activities. Information from multiple enterprise systems combines with real-time data from operational floor actions. Our platform functionality drives the aggregation, manipulation and incorporation of this data into powerful business analytics for more precise decision-making for future actions not just recording the past.

Solutions

What value do Tego’s Smart Connected Solutions provide?

Tego’s smart connected solutions integrate data from multiple enterprise systems together with real-time location tracking of operational activities. The combined unified view provides the foundation for optimizing performance and streamlining workflows. Tego delivers unprecedented clarity and control over your entire operation.

What industries does Tego service?

Tego has solutions for aerospace manufacturers, OEMs and MRO providers, 3PLs/ warehouse and distribution vendors, industrial manufacturers, sterile supply chain vendors and aseptic manufacturers. Lastly, the company is the leading provider of ATA compliant solutions for Flyable Parts.

What pain points does TegoHub address?

At its core Tego’s solution addresses three core challenges encompassed by the need for real-time visibility: fragmented data, reactive operations, decisions in the dark.

  • Fragmented data – Operational data is siloed in disparate systems, on paper logs, or simply in people’s heads. This makes it impossible to get a comprehensive picture of what’s truly happening on the factory floor or across the supply chain.
  • Reactive Operations – Without clear visibility, organizations are constantly reacting to problems, such as equipment breakdowns, material shortages, quality issues, instead of proactively preventing them. This leads to wasted time, resources, and missed opportunities.
  • Decisions in the dark – Perhaps the most frustrating observation is seeing highly skilled and dedicated people making less-than-optimal decisions, not due to a lack of effort or intelligence, but because they simply didn’t have access to the complete, accurate data needed to see the “whole picture.” Folks are operating in the dark, making educated guesses based on partial information.
How does TegoHub Help Solve Inventory Forecasting, Management, and Control?

TegoHub collects and reports the enterprise-wide view of inventory activities (e.g., planning, forecasting, receipt, warehousing, tracking and control) while at the same time automating real-time reports of location, count, condition, workflow and traceability throughout shop floor, warehouse and production areas. By performing these activities in an integrated, enterprise-wide manner, a company can move from siloed, inefficient production processes to a streamlined, data-driven system that supports profitability and growth.

How does TegoHub Help Customers Solve Hidden Inefficiencies?

TegoHub eliminates manual, labor intensive processes through automation of the work performed by its people, through automated reporting of material, inventory and work in process and by tracing processes. TegoHub acts as a central hub for all production activity and integrates with ERP and MES systems, to allow data and real-time analytics to flow seamlessly across the organization. Stakeholders can access this information to identify trends and inefficiencies that would otherwise be invisible.

How does TegoHub help customers with compliance?

TegoHub automatically captures a comprehensive “birth-through-released product” digital history for every item, process, and workflow. The solution also manages compliance documentation, forms and workflows, so that chain of custody details and compliance enforcement is seen, reported and managed in real-time enterprise wide.
