How Tego and Metalcraft Helped an Aerospace Customer Bring Clarity, Reliability, and Confidence to Their Operations
When industrial teams talk about tracking the tools, carts, fixtures, and high-value assets that keep their operation moving, the conversation often turns into a story about things going missing, information living in six different systems, or teams spending too much time trying to locate something that should be easy to find. Those moments slow down work, add stress to the day, and quietly chip away at performance.
One of our aerospace MRO customers was dealing with this exact challenge. They rely on specialized tools that help refurbish jet engine components throughout their facility. Each tool is essential to the workflow and costs anywhere between thousands to tens of thousands of dollars. Losing track of even one tool stalls production, delays maintenance schedules, or forces teams into frustrating workarounds.
The customer needed something better than a spreadsheet, a disconnected homegrown system, and handwritten logs or notes. They needed a durable, automated, and dependable way to identify each tool, understand its maintenance history, and confirm where it was at any given moment.
Building the Right Solution, Together

Our Project Development Director, L. Caesar, started by spending time with the customer and clarifying the pain points. That included everything from misplaced tools to missing lifecycle information to the issues working with disconnected operational systems. From there, he and the Tego team brought in Metalcraft, a long-trusted manufacturer of rugged RFID tags that hold up in tough environments.
The collaboration was a natural fit. As the case study notes, Metalcraft’s tags were chosen for their ruggedness and ease of use, especially given the variety of tools that needed to be tracked.
Together, our teams designed a solution that combined Metalcraft’s durable RFID tag products with TegoHub’s ability to deliver real-time location data and a digital-twin of operational activity. TegoHub integrated that data so teams could see where each tool was, what it had been used for, and whether any MRO action needed to be taken.
With the solution, the process for finding a tool became faster, understanding its history became automated, and tracking it through the process became something teams could rely on rather than something they hoped would work.
The Results: Less Searching, More Certainty

The customer gained a reliable system that held up in demanding aerospace conditions and provided a stable, long-term foundation for asset and tool management and operational visibility. Field teams could access tool information quickly. Financial losses decreased and there was a 40% reduction in labor stoppages due to misplaced tools. Confidence grew within the production team because information was now automated, consistent, and accessible.
A Model for Strong Technology Partnerships
This project reflects something we believe is essential in industrial transformation. Real progress happens when the right partners bring their expertise together with a shared focus on solving the customer’s actual business problem. Metalcraft delivered the durability and identification reliability the customer needed and Tego delivered the software solution that turned the tag data into something actionable. That combination created a meaningful, long-term improvement in operational precision.
