Tego Makes a Splash at Oil and Gas Show

Last week, Tego attended the 2014 Global Petroleum Show in partnership with Brady Corporation, an international manufacturer and marketer of complete solutions that identify and protect premises, products and people.

The Global Petroleum Show is the world’s largest oil and gas show and the meeting place for this global industry, and it was well-attended with more than 60,000 registered attendees. We received a very positive response from refinery representatives and field workers to demonstrations of the Tego High Memory RFID solution.

While many energy industry professionals have looked into RFID in the past, they found that low-memory EPC tags are not suitable for their applications, since they require cloud access or connection to servers running enterprise software programs. However, with Tego’s High Memory RFID solution, the information stays on the tag with the asset where it can be easily accessed in remote locations without Internet connectivity.

We found that Field engineers readily understood the many advantages of having asset information available at point-of-use with the hardware, such as equipment manufacturing details as well as maintenance and inspection history that can be updated through the life of the plant. In fact, several people noted they have been looking for a solution like this to handle business processes in the field for asset management and were surprised to find that the technology already exists and is being used in other heavy industries like aviation.

The TegoChip provides a secure storage capability 2,700 times larger than conventional RFID chips. With this memory capacity, a TegoChip can hold entire lifecycle information, critical business data and performance metrics over the life of the tagged asset.
